As the result of the discipline study, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
To know: general features and problems of translation from the Japanese; major aids for translating to Japanese.
To be able to: apply in practice translation skills during translation of texts of different styles; use Japanese paper and electronic dictionaries, as well as computer and Internet facilities for translation.

ability to demonstrate knowledge of the features of translation as a special kind of communication taking into account objective and subjective factors in it, the main types of translation;
- ability to carry out phonological, semantic, lexicological, morphological and syntactic analysis of linguistic material; to analyze different types of discourse/text;
- ability to translate, review and annotate multi-genre texts in state and foreign languages;
- ability to edit multi-genre texts in the Ukrainian and German languages;
- ability to use hardware and software for translation processes implementation;
- ability to adapt to new conditions and to making decisions; to realize the necessity of learning throughout life in order to deepen the acquired proficient skills and to gain new professional knowledge; to take responsibility for the work performed and to achieve goals in compliance with the requirements of professional ethics.

Main features of terminological unit translation. Translation of words as language forms. Genre patterns and cliche in translation. Peculiarities of verbal realia translation. Proper name translation. Polysemy, homonymy and word play (pun). Ways and means of translating phraseological units.
