Learning outcomes:

• Ability to perform comparative analysis of the English and Ukrainian languages in order to appropriately render extra lingual realia;
• Ability to easily deal with complex social cultural circumstances, willingness to accelerate innovative and communication processes of broad concept;
• Ability to perform written translation and interpretation tasks using style registers and means of their rendering into the target language.

Live and Learn Theme: Education, university life, educational issues. • Speaking about education, teaching methods, academic success; • Reading for multiple matching, paragraph insertion; • Listening for gist and detail, matching, blank filling, multiple choice; • Conversational skills of describing similarities and differences, giving directions; • English in use: collocations connected with education, idioms, fixed phrases with by, phrasal verbs ( keep, drag); • Grammar revision of relative clauses; • Writing leaflets and information sheets. The Image Business Theme: Fashion industry, image,style. • Speaking about image and looks, fashion and beauty, cosmetic surgery; • Reading for gap insertion, multiple matching, multiple choice; • Listening for gist and detail, matching, blank filling, multiple choice; • Conversational skills of expressing likes and dislikes, expressing surprise; • English in use: idioms connected with body parts, fixed phrases with down, phrasal verbs (go, pick); • Grammar revision of reported speech and indirect questions; • Writing competition entries. Shop Around Theme: Shopping, economy, advertising. • Speaking about shopping, business and money, adverting, consumer society; • Reading for multiple matching and gapped text,; • Listening for completion, multiple matching, specific information; • English in use: collocations connected with shopping and business, idioms connected with money, fixed phrases with carry, phrasal verbs (call, draw), • Conversational skills confirming an order, answering a complaint; • Grammar revision of articles, punctuations.
