As a result of studying the discipline, the student should be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
1) Being able to mark off synchronous and diachronic approaches to the study of linguistic objects.
2) Being able to put in practice knowledge of general patterns to solve specific problems in the field of terminology.
3) Being able to spot types, kinds, forms and models of termosystems, basic regularities of their formation.
4) Being able to distinguish formal, logical and semantic structure of the term.
5) Being able to fulfill unification and standardization of scientific and technical terminology.
6) Being able to analyze and describe the morphological structure and word-forming models of terminological nominations.
7) Being able to recognize the causes of shortcomings in terminology and to understand the principles of making adjustments to the process of their development and improvement.

Per-requisites:
Theory and methodology of applied linguistics in diachrony and synchrony.
Co-requisites:
Corpus linguistic technologies.

Discipline refers to selectively block courses and studied for 1 semester of 2 year of the studying. Within the discipline the questions of the place of terminology in modern linguistic science are considered, approaches to definition of the term "term" and "terminosystem" are analyzed, basic methods of modern terminology are analyzed, perspective directions of terminological researches are investigated. The purpose of studying the discipline is to provide young scientists with information about basic scientific concepts of linguistic terminology, methods of its analysis and problems of modern directions of research of linguistic phenomena in the field of special vocabulary; formation of their systematic knowledge of basic terms of terminology and skills of solving problems that arise in practical terminological work.

Current control on practical classes conducted to identify openness of the postgraduate to classes in the following forms:
• selective oral quizzing before circle time;
• front standardized survey for 5-10 minutes;
• frontal check of homework;
• assessment of the activity of the graduate student in the process of employment, suggestions, original decisions, clarifications and definitions, additions to previous answers, etc.
The control questions are divided into
• test tasks — choose correct answer;
• problematic — creating problematic situations;
• questions-remarks — identify cause and effect relationships;
• situational tasks — to determine the answer according to a specific situation;
• issues of reproductive nature — definition of practical value.
The final check conducted on the basis of current control and examination.
