Learning outcomes:
- To know the history of the theoretical and methodological principles categories of the population sociology and its place in the sciences that study population in its various aspects;
- Know the theoretical aspects and empirical substantiation of the main problems of the sphere of knowledge;
- Know the general trends of the population, the driving force of this process, the main principles of formation of different types of human reproduction;
- The achievement and development of modern demography in Ukraine and abroad.
- Be able to explain the essence of the processes occurring in the population, reveal the mechanism of the relationship of social and economic development, on the one hand and changes in the intensity of demographic processes and demographic transformation of structures - on the other;
- Be able to adequately explain the patterns of human reproduction on the qualitative and quantitative level, taking into account regional differences within Ukraine;
- Be able to exploring the impact of specific features of the "new" to be able to describe patterns of demographic processes in the future;
- Applying technology to be able to collect, analyze and synthesis of empirical data to develop and refine approaches and methodological tools needed to streamline and systematize demographic events in all their diversity and complexity.
- Know the basic understanding of social problems in cities and villages, scientific concepts and categories, based on their knowledge of traditional and modern explanations and formulations;
- Know the basic features of modern political life of the country and determine its impact on urban and rural society;
- Know the socio-economic situation and forecast of socio-economic problems of cities and villages at the present stage;
- To know and predict the processes occurring in urban and rural environments.
- Be able to accurately and scientifically grounded apply the theoretical knowledge, their own scientific erudition and personal experience for analysis and evaluation of processes and phenomena in urban and rural society, finding the right decisions in the course of training and scientific and practical activities, defending with their scientific beliefs and research position;
- Be able to navigate in scientific and periodicals and information on socio-economic, demographic and other issues of city life and village.

Summary of the subject:
The theoretical basis of demography; Sources of information on population and demographic trends; The number and demographic structure, their dynamics; Quantitative analysis and measurement of demographic processes; Reproduction of the population as a unity of demographic processes; Natural and mechanical (spatial) movement of population; Socio-demographic forecasting; Population policy in an era of depopulation. Sociology local communities as a branch of sociological knowledge: historical excursion into science; The city as a socio-spatial phenomenon, urbanization and urban areas; Formation of urban and rural society, reproduction and migration; Socio-economic sub city conditions and quality of life, improvement and industry; Cities as scientific and educational centers, socio-cultural potential of the urban environment; Social relations, social conflicts and political processes in towns and villages; Managing the development of urban and rural society and social engineering in cities.
