- To understand the specifics and relevance of studying local communities in a world of progressive globalization;
- To characterize the concepts of «local history», «local community», «local specificity», their origin and features;
- To explain the history of formation and characteristics of ethnic, sub-ethnic and other local communities in Ukraine;
- To characterize the political and administrative structure of Ukraine in different historical periods.
- To explain the economic and social processes on the Ukrainian territory, the essence of the transition from traditional to industrial society; to name the main features of modern society.
- To describe and compare the situation of the Ukrainian population and the features of everyday life of different ethnical, sub-ethnical and social communities at different stages of historical development and in the composition of different state entities.
- To analyze the economic, political and cultural activity of other ethnic groups/nations in the territory of Ukraine; characterize inter-ethnic relations and give examples of interaction between Ukrainian and other national movements in Ukraine.
- To search for historical information and use various sources of information (scientific monographs, popular science works, encyclopedias, periodicals, interactive sources, etc.)

Historical and cultural heritage of Lviv, Ancient and Medieval history of Ukraine, Modern and Contemporary history of Ukraine, History and culture of Europe.

- The subject, objectives and concept of the «Local history» course; - Formation of local history as an independent branch of history: world and Ukrainian context; - Methods of local history research; - Types of local communities: ethnical, sub-ethnical, social, etc. local identities in the context of globalization; - The problem of interaction and coexistence of local communities in the historical dimension: the example of Lviv; - Perspectives of local history at the current stage in the educational and public space. «Local History» Project (Lviv) as an example of practical implementation and promotion of local history.
