Learning outcomes:
to know the basic concepts of books knowledge and history of book; universal components, features and functions of the book; methods, forms of its development, movement and functioning;
•to be able to explore the historical evolution of book and distinguish among types of book publications;
• to use knowledge about the structure, volume, formats, design and terminological apparatus of book in museum work;
• the ability to analyze the book in the context of historical and cultural events; organize own work independently in order to research ancient books in the museum.

Summary of the subject:
Book science as science. Book: essence and meaning. Types of books and publishing standardization. Book publishing as a system. The design and structure of the book. The apparatus of the book. Primitive types of writing and its further evolution. Manuscripts. Becoming of printing. The development of printing in XVI-XVIII centuries
