Learning outcomes:
As a result of studying the discipline, the student should be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
to know: fields of application and basic applied aspects of information theory; basic methods of information transformation;
methods of information evaluation, construction of different information coding systems; be able to: evaluate information, both quantitatively and qualitatively; apply the theoretical knowledge gained in different subject areas: information analysis, data compression.
use learned coding methods when working with modern ones
information technology, build codes with different
characteristics;

Summary of the subject:
Information theory is a section of mathematics that explores the processes of storing, transforming, and transmitting information. Information theory is closely related to such sections of mathematics as probability theory and mathematical statistics. The main sections of information theory are source coding (compression coding) and channel (interference) coding.

Learning outcomes:
Basic provisions of information theory. Classification of types of information and information technologies. Classification of types of signals. Classification of communication channels. Generalized block diagram of the information transmission system, its components and components, their main parameters. Quantitative assessment of information. Information parameters of discrete and continuous message sources. Mathematical models of information signals and models of channels of information transmission. Methods for quantifying the effectiveness of information transfer systems. Knowledge of theoretical bases of information theory, ability to make a generalized structural diagram of the information transmission system, to analyze its components and components, their basic parameters, to compile and analyze mathematical models of information signals and models of information transmission channels. Determine information parameters of discrete and continuous message sources, determine conditional and unconditional entropy of messages, redundancy of information, performance of information source, know classification of signals, know basic parameters and forms of representation of deterministic signals, principles of transformation of continuous signals into discrete, methods of discrete signal recovery signals, determine the information parameters of discrete and continuous message sources. To use mathematical models of information signals and models of information transmission channels, to determine the signal capacity and the capacity of the communication channel, to know the conditions of information transmission with minimal losses, to determine the quantitative evaluation of the efficiency of information transmission systems.

Prerequisites: Algorithmization and Programming, Part 1 and Part. Computer Science. Co-requisites: Methods and tools for computer information technology. Software creation technologies. Theory of algorithms.

To determine the signal capacity and the capacity of the communication channel, to determine the conditional and unconditional entropy of messages, the redundancy of information, to determine the conditions of information transmission with minimal losses, to determine the quantitative evaluation of the efficiency of information transmission systems.
