Learning outcomes:
• Know the Ukrainian historical chronology, since 1914, describe synthetic main approaches for studying the modern history of Ukraine, using terms.
• Formulate texts and summaries based on the current (updated) historical information that can be used, for example, in journalism, local government and museums.
• Ability to speak and write simple texts and presentations as well as more sophisticated and scientific texts required during training, using appropriate communication registers.
• Ability to identify and describe the political and cultural context in which developed major debate about the national liberation struggle in Ukraine in the 20th century, and can call the main historians involved in this debate.
• Knowledge of key events and processes, specializing in modern and contemporary history of Ukraine.
• Detailed knowledge specifically selected areas: (international relations, economic history, history of ideas, gender history, history of science and technology), which can be demonstrated by reading, studying and reporting at least five important works on this topic.
• The ability to address the issue of research using appropriate sources and bibliography, analysing and providing critical and narrative form data obtained using 20,000 words.
• Ability to work effectively in a team with people of other countries, taking into account different background knowledge and understanding of their colleagues to specific tasks.
• The ability to use appropriate terminology to discuss the facts and interpretation clear and precise language as show in presentations and essays.
• Ability to make presentations orally and in writing up to 10 pages on foreign language.

Summary of the subject:
This course includes a: Ukrainian national liberation movement 1917-1921 years; Soviet Ukraine in 1920-1930 years; political and socio-economic situation of Western Ukraine in 1920-1930 years; Ukrainian lands during World War II (1939-1945); Ukrainian people under the Soviet totalitarian regime (1945-1950 years); Ukrainian national movement in 1960-1970 years; movement for the restoration of Ukrainian statehood (second half of 1980 - beginning of 1990); political and socio-economic development of modern Ukraine.

Assessment methods and criteria:
rating assessment on a 100-point system: current tests - 40 points (quiz, presentation, oral and written answers), final test - 60 points (written exam).
