understanding of the peculiarities of the suffrage;
knowledge of the stages of the electoral process;
knowledge of the essence of the electoral system, electoral campaign, its strategy and tactics;
knowledge of the main stages of formation of parliamentarism in Ukraine and in the world;
the ability to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice;
the ability to determine the basic characteristics of representative democracy;
the ability to analyze peculiarities of formation of parliamentarism in Ukraine;
the ability to compare types of electoral systems, to find out their strengths and weaknesses;
the ability to determine the peculiarities of realization of parliamentarism in Ukraine.

Peculiarities of political decision-making in a democratic society. The essence and peculiarities of parliamentarism. Formation of parliamentarism in a global political practice. Types and structure of parliaments. Functions of modern parliaments. Election as an attribute of parliamentarism: the essence, types and principles. The electoral process: the essence and stages. Strategy and tactics of the electoral campaign. Formation of parliamentarism in Ukraine. The Supreme Council of Ukraine - the only legislative body in Ukraine: general characteristics. The structure of the Parliament of Ukraine. Functional characterization of the Supreme Council of Ukraine. Status of People's Deputy of Ukraine. Representative bodies in the system of municipal self government.
