Learning outcomes:
• 1. Know the methods of converting and transmitting messages and signals
2. Know the principles of organization and features of lines, channels and communication networks.
3. Know ways to ensure high noise immunity, efficiency and reliability of telecommunication systems and networks.
4. Be able to calculate signal parameters.
5. Be able to explain the structure of the telecommunications system and the purpose of its functional elements.
6. Have an idea about the main directions of development of modern telecommunication technologies and prospects of their practical application.

Summary of the subject:
Types of telecommunication. Convergence of networks, technologies and services. Telecommunication process. Subscriber Devices, Telecommunication System and Network. Construction and operation of telecommunications networks. Generalized functional diagram and typical signal transformations in digital communication systems. Lines and channels in telecommunication systems. Types of switching. Telephone network technologies. Subscriber access networks. Cellular communication systems. Compression and encoding of data in telecommunication networks. Security in modern telecommunications.
