Learning outcomes:
• Skills to use knowledge in practical situations;
• Skills to work independently and in a team;
• Appropriate understanding of and respect to cultural variety and diversity;
• Ability to produce written speech of different types and genres within suggested areas and themes as well as based on the heard, seen, read and personal experience; to apply appropriately language means while expressing one’s attitude and justifying one’s opinion on the conversation subject;
• Ability to analyze English on all levels;
• Ability to perform comparative analysis of the English and Ukrainian languages in order to appropriately render extra lingual realia;
• Ability to easily deal with complicated sociocultural circumstances, preparedness to operate innovative and communication processes of broad concept;
• Ability to perform written translation and interpretation tasks using style registers and means of their rendering into the target language.

Summary of the subject:
- Means/ways of communication (English in the world, means of communication). - Types of languages (the Internet, dead languages, native languages, aspects of language). Gestures & feelings (types of gestures, ways expressing feelings). Texts for home reading. - Moods and emotions (happiness and emotions, physical sensations). Texts for home reading. - Communication (asking about and expressing feelings, exclamations).
