Learning outcomes:
• Know and understand the essence of language as social phenomenon, its relation to the cognition, culture, social development, he principal relations between language and world; origin and development of language, basic units of language and speech, functional peculiarities of language.
• Master the main stylistic devices and expressive means of English and Ukrainian, main methods and techniques of stylistic analysis, genres and types of texts and approaches to their interpretation, principles of text formal and semantic organization.
• Conduct scientific research at a required level.

• Contrastive lexicology of modern English and Ukrainian

• Theory and practice of translation
• Contrastive grammar of English and Ukrainian
Summary of the subject:
Course content: General Problems of Stylistics. Phonetical Expressive Means and Stylistic Devices. Expressive Means and Stylistic Devices on Morphological Level. Stylistic Resources of Word-building. Lexical Stylistics. Stylistic Semasiology. Stylistic Syntax. Text as an object of stylistic analysis. Methods and techniques of stylistic analysis of text in modern Ukrainian and European linguistics.
