Learning outcomes:
- ability to demonstrate knowledge of the basic philosophical theories and concepts in the field of humanitarian and social-economic sciences, ethical and legal norms governing interpersonal relationship;
- ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the evolving paradigms of linguistics of the XIX-XXI centuries; to have an idea of linguistics as a special science that studies the ontology of language as a system of signs, its structure and functional orientation;
- ability to demonstrate knowledge of modern scientific linguistic research methods;
- ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of language as a social phenomenon, its relationship to mind, culture and social development of people; fundamental relationship between language and world;
- ability to demonstrate knowledge of fundamental conceptions and claims of the human lingual performance theory, basic problems of interrelation between language, thought and human life experiences; theorizing the problem of architecture and forms of human linguistic consciousness and linguistic competence as well as basic features of human lingual mechanisms operation; basic principles of language processing psychological modelling; theoretical backgrounds and practical application of investigating language processing procedures within the prism of human brain functioning; fundamental theories and conceptions explaining determinant influence of language on human cognitive abilities and behavioral skills;
- skills of practical utilizing of psycholinguistic research results in solving practical specialized applied tasks;
- ability to acquire new knowledge independently, to critically assess the experience from the standpoint of the latest philological and social practice achievements.

Summary of the subject:
History and development of psycholinguistics. Research goals and methods of psycholinguistic investigation. Psycholinguistic approaches to language performance modelling. Stages and basic features of linguistic development within language acquisition process. Mechanisms of language production. Basic stages and performance processes involved in language comprehension. Language disorders and problems of language dissolution as key research issues in psycholinguistic investigation.

Assessment methods and criteria:
Total semester credit score is 100 credit points, course assessments include writing a credit test at the end of the course weighting 30% of the overall course assessment and course work continuous evaluation weighting 70% of the overall course assessment (50 % - seminar performance, 20 % - self study performance).
